660 Residenz Parkway, Apt. G
Dayton, OH 45429
$10 Entry Fee

Event Details

Half of the registration cost will go towards lunch and snacks.

Registration is limited to the first 16 people. The first 16 people to register and pay their fees will be added to a 16 person bracket.

Except where noted, all games will use the base game only. Every match will be played at the 2 player count only.

Games will be randomly assigned to each player in the bracket. Once advancing, players will never play the same game twice. For the final round, each finalist will be able to veto one game from the remaining games in the pool, and a random game will be selected from the last available games. In the off-chance there are only two games available in the pool for the final match, and both players veto separate games, a random game will be selected from the two available games.

The Final, Championship match will be selected from the championship pool games at random, immediately before the championship.

The details for the tournament (including game selection) are subject to change.

General Rules

Practice good sportsmanship at all times.

When spectating games, you may not make any comments about the gameplay itself that may help either player.

Any individual found to be cheating will be removed from the tournament and will have any winnings won so-far forfeited.

In each match, players will agree to a random method of choosing the first player (coin flip, dice roll, etc.). This will decide the first player, regardless of what the game's rules state.

Players are responsible for helping other players remember to trigger mandatory effects (i.e. Once between turns powers in Wingspan, gaining all players benefits in Finspan, or remembering to add cards to the clearing when trees are played in Forest Shuffle).

Errors can only be corrected if all players agree, or if a referee decides it can be done.

Players may not resign from games, and must continue games until completion.

In the event where you realize an illegal play has taken place, and no immediate resolution can be agreed upon by both players, players will reset the game and begin from the beginning, with the player who did not make the illegal move deciding first player.

In the event of a rules clarification or dispute, players will call a referee to resolve the dispute. The referee will be clearly declared and agreed upon before gameplay begins.

Prizes

Each round of the tournament, every winner will recieve a $5 prize. The more games you win, the more money you will recieve.

Prizes will only be awarded once a player has been eliminated from the tournament or has won the final match.

The grand prize for winning the whole tournament is $10 ($25 total, adding from each preceding round prizes).

Pool Play Games

Specific Rules
  • Random Scoring tiles will be used.

Specific Rules
  • Score only Knights (cities), Travelers (roads), Monks (monastaries), and Farmers (fields)
  • Cities with two tiles give four points (not two).
  • Player(s) with the most farmers receives 3 points for every city in that field.
  • During your opponent's turn you may choose and look at your next tile. The new tile has to be above the tabletop at all times, so it is clear which one you've chosen.
  • In case of an "edge of the table" event, rearange the tiles in the other direction to get more space. If this is not possible, we will shift the game to the floor or a new table.
  • Players are not allowed to take any private notes during the game (like counting tiles on a sheet of paper).

Specific Rules
  • When playing a card, pay attention to the order in which to resolve steps: Pay for the card, add a card to the clearing if playing a tree, and finally resolve any abilities on the card.

Expansions:

Specific Rules
  • Gear cards that let you pay for resources with different resources cannot be stacked with gear cards that reduce the cost of a park by that resource. (For example: if you have a gear card that lets you pay suns instead of trees, and another gear card that makes parks cost two suns less, a park that costs two trees will still cost two suns or two trees, and will not be free).

Expansions:

Specific Rules
  • All players will use an identical tournament window template.
  • When pulling dice from the bag, if you pull more dice than necessary, return all pulled dice back into the drawbag, with another player having the opportunity to shake the bag before a single replacement die is drawn.
  • When drafting dice, after you have placed your die in your window and the next player has started their turn, you may no longer move your die. If you find that this creates an illegal placement, you must follow the official rules for removing illegally placed dice.
